Welcome to West Down, East Belfast, Strangford and Belfast South West…

boundary-proposals
Boundary commission proposals, designed to equalise the size of all Westminster constituencies, were published this week and have a particularly major impact on South Belfast, slicing and dicing it into four constituencies. Finaghy, Malone, Stranmillis and Windsor are among the areas proposed for absorption into West Belfast, Carryduff will be split in half between Strangford and a new ‘West Down’, and residents of Ravenhill, Rosetta, Ormeau and as far as Shaw’s Bridge will find themselves in East Belfast. The SDLP is preparing a response to the consultation and welcomes any feedback you have. You can see proposals for all 17 NI constituencies here.
